Founded 1928 (chartered as the Far Eastern College on 4 June 1928 by Dr Nicanor Reyes Sr through merger of the Institute of Accounts, Business and Finance with the Far Eastern College of Liberal Arts; granted university status 1934 as Far Eastern University — the FIRST NON-SECTARIAN UNIVERSITY in the Philippines). Major private non-sectarian university in Manila, located at the Sampaloc campus (Nicanor Reyes Street). Founded 4 June 1928 as Far Eastern College by Dr Nicanor Reyes Sr — granted university status 4 January 1934, becoming the FIRST NON-SECTARIAN UNIVERSITY in the Philippines (UST, Ateneo, DLSU were all Catholic; Silliman and CPU were Protestant). Distinguished art-deco campus designed by Pablo Antonio (one of the National Artists for Architecture). Institutes: Accounts, Business and Finance (IABF — flagship), Architecture and Fine Arts, Arts and Sciences, Education, Law (Institute of Law), Nursing, Tourism. Affiliated with FEU schools network including East Asia College, FEU Diliman, FEU Cavite, and FEU Manila. UAAP member with the Tamaraws.
