Cambodia's flagship public medical and health-sciences university, located in Phnom Penh. Founded 1946 as the Royal School of Medicine during the French Protectorate — one of the oldest HE institutions in Cambodia. Closed 1975 under Khmer Rouge; REOPENED 1979 among the very first institutions reopened post-genocide due to the urgent need to rebuild Cambodia's medical workforce (almost all doctors had been killed or fled). Five faculties: Medicine, Pharmacy, Dental Medicine, Nursing, and Technical Cadre of Health. French and Khmer instruction; emerging English-medium programmes. Affiliated with Calmette Hospital and other Phnom Penh teaching hospitals.
