Founded in 1811 by Archduke John of Austria as the Joanneum (a polytechnic and natural-history museum), TU Graz became a full technical university in 1865. Particularly distinguished in automotive engineering (close ties to Magna Steyr and AVL List), informatics, microelectronics, biomedical engineering, and quantum technologies.
