Founded 1981 (chartered as Mu'tah University with both a civilian wing and a military wing — the military wing trains officers for the Jordanian Armed Forces; named after the Battle of Mu'tah (629 CE), the first encounter between Muslim and Byzantine forces). Major public university in Karak (southern Jordan), founded 1981 with a unique dual-wing structure: a CIVILIAN WING serving general students and a MILITARY WING training officer cadets for the Jordanian Armed Forces. Named after the Battle of Mu'tah (629 CE) — the first major encounter between Muslim forces and the Byzantine Empire, fought near Karak. Faculties span Medicine (most prestigious in southern Jordan), Engineering, Sciences, Arts, Education, Law, Sharia, Business, Agriculture, Aviation Sciences, and Military Sciences.
