Named after His Majesty the Fifth King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck (Khesar Gyalpo means 'King Khesar' in Dzongkha). Bhutan's SECOND university — separate from RUB to dedicate institutional focus to medical education and health-sciences workforce development. Main campus at the Jigme Dorji Wangchuck National Referral Hospital in Thimphu.
