Public francophone-oriented university located in Rose Hill (Plaines Wilhems District), established 2012 through the merger of the Swami Dayanand Institute of Management (SDIM, founded 1985) and the Institut Supérieur de Technologie (IST). Named after the Mascarene archipelago (Mauritius, Réunion, Rodrigues), reflecting a regional cooperation mission. Partner of the University of Limoges (France) and Université de La Réunion. Public university for technology, business, and applied sciences, located at Pointe-aux-Sables on the western coast of Mauritius. Established 2000 by Act of Parliament with a mission focused on responding to industry needs in technology, management, and sustainable development. Schools include the School of Business, Management and Finance; the School of Innovative Technologies and Engineering; the School of Health Sciences; the School of Sustainable Development and Tourism; and the Mauritius Institute of Public Administration and Management (MIPAM) which is hosted within UTM.
